The MissionCX PathfinderProgramme

Pathfinder™ is our commitment to developing today’s teams and tomorrow’s talent. The programme bridges education and industry, engaging young people from school age through to apprenticeships and early careers, while also supporting our current staff through upskilling and leadership development.

We believe in structured knowledge transfer—sharing skills, insights, and best practice from experienced professionals to the next generation. This strengthens our workforce while supporting a sustainable future for commissioning across the wider industry. By investing in our people and communities, Pathfinder™ ensures commissioning and OR&T professionals at every stage of their careers have access to the expertise they need to grow, lead and succeed.

Commissioning The Future, Today

Why Pathfinder™ Exists
The UK faces unprecedented demand for engineering talent, organisations must therefore innovate to stay competitive and meet this future demand. Pathfinder™ tackles resourcing risk head-on by creating long-term, high-quality skills pathways that attract, develop, and retain future commissioning and OR&T specialists.
A Structured Pathway From Curiosity to Career
Our Pathfinder™ Programme supports talent from classroom to career, offering pathways through work experience, early careers events, and apprenticeships. Our end-to-end progression model plants early interest, nurtures essential skills, provides hands-on industry experience, and leads into apprenticeships and professional development—building “the best of the best” for tomorrow’s commissioning and OR&T teams.
Powered by Industry-Leading Partnerships
Pathfinder™ develops both technical capability and essential life skills through STEM outreach and school partnerships – inspiring students and connecting education with industry. Working with Skills Builder, STEM Ambassadors, EngineeringUK, the Careers & Enterprise Company, and the Royal Academy of Engineering, we deliver a programme that is robust, accredited, and aligned with national STEM priorities—ensuring every learner gains meaningful, real-world insight. We are the first SME in Cumbria to be accredited to level 4 through the SkillsBuilder partnership, making sure schools and employers build essential skills for life and speak a common language.
Proven Outcomes Backed by Five Years of Success
We have proudly delivered measurable skills impact for five consecutive years, which includes Work Insight Week (WIn Week) and Work Experience Week (WEx Week), our immersive, hands-on programmes introducing students to commissioning, OR&T and all areas of business operations. Our award-winning early-careers programmes—recognised in 2023 with a Golden Apple Award for Best Industry Engagement Programme—consistently outperforms national benchmarks.

What Our Partners Think

BAE
Tim Ripper, Senior Operations Manager & Skills Development at BAE Systems

At BAE Systems, we recognise the importance of working together to help raise awareness of all the career opportunities available to young people. Speaking to the students about the opportunities at BAE and the national endeavour that we are part of was incredibly rewarding, and I was really inspired by the level of enthusiasm, engagement, and interest. MissionCX have created a really engaging week on career readiness and it’s great to see such a proactive approach from a local company and involvement from across the wider industry. Their efforts in creating these opportunities are vital for the future of our industry, our people, our communities and our nation.

Industry & education working together at their best. Fantastic to hear our students tell us they have been given opportunities through WEx at MissionCX that they would not have ordinarily been given.
